Upon inspection, the upper section of the ribbon had completely torn.

First Stage of installing new ribbon.  This microphone has one long ribbon, that is then divided in half, the upper section has an open back, and is in series with the bottom section, which feeds an acoustic labyrinth, the two halves combined give the microphone it’s unidirectional characteristics.
